Leadership Through Service
The Ability Experience is the philanthropic initiative of the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity that remains, to this day, an unparalleled success in the Greek world. Founded in 1977, we strive to instill a passion for lifelong service in our fraternity members while helping to empower people living with disabilities.
Together we’re helping to change the way society views people with disabilities and fraternities because labels should not define us. We prefer to put our values into action, bringing our mission for a more inclusive community to life every single day.
The Alpha Iota chapter partners with many local businesses, plans on-campus programs, and hosts internal events to raise money and awareness for The Ability Experience. Over the past several years, we have ranked top five as a Pi Kappa Phi chapter in fundraising totals. In 2018, the chapter raised over $25,000 for the Ability Experience and Ability Camps around the globe.
In addition to our benefit nights at various Auburn establishments, the wheelchair basketball tournament with the Auburn Wheelchair Basketball Team, and other on-campus fundraisers, we volunteer throughout the year at Camp ASCCA, an Ability Camp in Jackson Gap, AL. Every year, our chapter has sent volunteers to ASCCA’s Halloween Camp and their Fun Fish weekend in March and brothers have the opportunity to become summer counselors at Camp ASCCA and any other Ability Camps.
